                     Raja Harish Chandra (1913) by Dadasaheb Phalke, is known as the first silent feature film made in India by the 1930s the industry was producing over200 films per annum. The first Indian sound film, Ardeshir Irani's Alam Ara (1931) , was a major Commerical success.
                     
                     
 
                   WHY BOLLYWOOD IS CALLED AS BOLLYWOOD?
The name bollywood portmanteau derived from Bombay. The rormer name for Mumbai and hollywood industry however unlike hollywood, bollywood does not is as a physical place.
           
                     FOUNDER OF BOLLYWOOD.
   Dada saheb Phalke is called as the father of film industry. Dada saheb Phalke was born on 30 April ,1870 and died on 16 February,1944. Dada saheb phalke award is the India's highest award in cinema. It is presented annually at the National film awards ceremony by Directorate of film festivals .An organisation set up the ministry of information  are broadcasting.
